Why We Say No to Acrylic

When curating products for our space, I was deeply intentional about choosing fabrics that align with your energy, your values, and rhythm.

Because what touches your skin isn’t just material it’s a conversation between your body, your spirit, and the natural world.

Which brings me to something you might not have considered: acrylic fabric.

Have you ever wondered what it really is and how it might be affecting you, energetically and physically, without you even realizing it?

What Is Acrylic, Really?

Acrylic is a synthetic fiber made from petrochemicals derived from non-renewable resources and designed to last hundreds of years in the environment. Unlike natural fibers, it doesn’t biodegrade, and when washed, it releases tiny plastic particles that make their way into waterways and soil.

I’m not here to alarm you just to invite awareness. Many of us (myself included!) once assumed “soft and affordable” meant “fine.” But as I deepened my own journey with mindful living, I began to wonder: Does this fabric truly support the kind of relationship I want to have with the Earth?

For me, the answer led back to fibers that grow with the seasons, not in a lab.

The Quiet Language of Fabric

You may have noticed how certain materials just feel different. A cotton scarf might feel calming. Wool can feel grounding. Synthetic fabrics, even when soft, sometimes leave a subtle sense of “disconnect”especially if you’re sensitive to energy, practice meditation, or simply value presence.

In many holistic traditions, natural fibers are seen as more harmonious with the body’s subtle field. They breathe, they soften with time, and they carry an organic rhythm. Acrylic, by contrast, is static both physically and energetically. It doesn’t shift with your body; it sits on it.

Again, this isn’t about right or wrong it’s about resonance. And I wanted to offer options that resonate with your path.

What if getting dressed was less about covering up and more about tuning in?

When your fabrics are rooted in nature, even the simplest acts walking barefoot, sitting in stillness, stepping outside feel more connected. Your feet meet the Earth through fibers that remember they belong to it.

That’s the feeling I hope to offer you.
